Fall in Chicago

Last weekend I had the amazing opportunity to bring some of my favorite pieces from the fall collection with me to Chicago for a girls trip with my oldest friends.  Here are the highlights of six different women’s Nine56 street style.

The Lindsay sweater was a hit with everyone.  Its roomy silhouettes makes it the perfect piece for layering.  Katie paired it with a fitted white turtleneck.  It was amazing to see the pop of white on the sleeve and neck under the textured dark sweater.  She twisted her hair into a ponytail with a pair of statement earrings.  Katie threw together this look about 10 minutes before dinner and looked absolutely stunning.  The best part of this low maintenance look was that it was original.

I brought the Marissa dress in two different fabrics, sand-washed silk and viscose rayon.  Sarah wore the sand-washed silk version to dinner.  After trying on both the medium and the large, she sized down to the medium for a more polished look.  The large also looked great being a little more roomy with more coverage and she debated pairing it with a faux leather legging.  She decided to layer her Marissa top over a black tank tucked into skinny jeans with some kick-ass booties.  She dressed up the whole look with a double chain necklace.

My sister chose the Marissa in the viscose rayon fabric.  We learned that this fabric doesn’t travel super well and I would recommend bringing a hand held steamer if you plan to pack it.  That said, the top was effortless to wear.  Anna kept it simple with pearl earrings and her hair in a tight ponytail.  Her statement coat and wedges were fun ways to dress up this top which really feels like a blank slate with which you can do anything!

Becky, Sarah and Katie’s mom, stepped out in the Erika skirt like a model.  I really loved the way she styled the skirt, tucking a sleeveless white turtle neck into the wrap skirt with sheer tights and camel colored boots.  The textures and colors played off one another perfectly while remaining subtle.  This look was perfect for daytime shopping and transitioned seamlessly into nighttime festivities.

My own mom, Darsi, chose the Wendy dress. She layered it over a black long sleeve top.  In true Darsi style, her accessories were completely on point with a long box chain pendant necklace and an assortment of rings.  I love to see my mom in nine56 because she is someone whose style I really admire.  Like me, she struggles with finding styles that flatter her petite and curvy frame.  The Wendy dress was perfect for her.  The A-line hem hit just right and the front seaming detail created flattering shaping around the bust without being overly fitted.  Paired with high boots, the look was both fun and classic.

I wore the Heather jumpsuit.  This is another one of my absolute favorites the fall line.  The lightweight wool knit feels like wearing pajamas all day while looking polished.  I paired the jumpsuit with a black turtleneck sweater and short chunky-heeled boots.  My favorite part of this look was the cropped flared pant hem with the short boots.  It was so easy to throw together and felt original, which is exactly my style.

I was so inspired by how great these awesome women, all of different ages and body types, rocked the nine56 studio pieces.  We are definitely due for a trip back next year.
